Canine Oral Melanoma Survivors
Canine oral melanoma is a very serious cancer, but I want to focus on dogs that have survived their terminal diagnosis as a focus of hope for Charmer.
Arlo, a cairn terrier, is a terrific inspiration. This little fellow developed oral melanoma at a ripe old age of 17 years. He was given less than one year to live, yet he beat the prognosis. The therapy described he had was oral surgery.
Potsy, a chow-chow, was diagnosed with exactly the type of cancer as Charmer in exactly the same place, the roof of his mouth. Potsy got some help from The Magic Bullet Fund for his treatment costs, and he is doing great now. He received 6 weekly radiation treatments, as I hope to be able to give Charmer. At this point I can only afford half of the 6 and so I am hoping for a miracle to get the money for the rest.
Yay to Potsy and Arlo, two very inspiring canine oral malignant melanoma survivors.
